1.
Where do these events take place?
Anywhere. Challenges have been designed for conference
centers, major cities, on islands, in museums,
hotels, resorts, private homes, theme parks, in
the forest, state parks etc. Other than on foot,
modes of transport can be anything from limousines
to cross-country skis, bikes to horseback.
2. How much time to you need to create
a GPS/map game?
Unless we already have a design in place (San
Francisco, NYC, Houston, Boston to name a few),
we need a day or two day before your event to
walk the course and do any specific cartography
of the site, establish the elements and create
the entire game.
3. What does it cost?
This depends upon the size of group, time allotted
for event, and integration of other challenges,
puzzles, and desired training objectives. Typically,
our events are much more economically feasible
than most team building offerings as we are the
direct source, no middle man. We do not rely on
other vendors or specialists. Therefore your costs
are directly related to the relationship we have
with and the work we do for you.
4. How many people are your games designed
for? Can anyone participate?
We have created and facilitated events for a dozen
people in Boston Common, 900 people in Fort Worth,
and everything in between. Our games and challenges
can be designed to offer as high or low physical
impact as the client wants. Understanding that
there are varying degrees of physical limitations,
we ask each client about the folks that will be
participating and design the game based on this
information. Simply put, our standard game and
challenge is designed so that anyone can take
part in it.
5.
What ‘other challenges’ might be incorporated?
Problem solving challenges done sitting down,
coordination activities, and creative tasks requiring
the skills of all individuals in the group to
help reach their objective with input and participation
from each team member. No one is left out. Everyone’s
a winner.
6. Why not just do Geocaching or orienteering?
Why add other challenges?
We can, of course, just do straight navigation.
However, studies have shown that learning while
moving increases integration of information. Incorporating
various tasks and activities broadens focus and
constantly shifts and molds the dynamics within
a group to almost always surprising results. That
and it’s fun!
7. What other costs might there be?
Our prices include our travel costs to get to
your destination. Of course, these will vary depending
on specifics of location, time of year and the
number of staff we would need to bring along.
We highly recommend a client purchase of a reward
or prize for everyone at the conclusion of the
event. Some groups want a ‘winner’ and a winning
team for which you may want to purchase a prize
(food/fruit basket, household item, airline or
event tickets, crystal, dinners, resort stay etc).
We suggest that everyone is recognized, in some
small way (chotsky, candy, ribbons, t-shirts etc.)
for taking part and completing the challenge.
8.
Can you design a hunt for us to facilitate, ourselves?
Yes. We have produced maps and GPS areas for large
companies to use over and over for years of team
building challenges. It is an extended relationship
with staff training and program development. Most
groups want a one or two day course with one desired
outcome.
9. Why choose CYFI for our group event?
First and foremost, Deb Humiston and her staff
are professionals not only in game design and
creation, but also in its presentation and facilitation.
Our focus for the client is fun and learning through
participation in something excitingly different
and unique. Our consistently achieved goal is
for the players to remember our game as the highlight
of their event be it a conference, party or celebration.
We want our client contact to come away knowing
they made the right decision in regard to achieving
their goals and desired objectives, the ease of
dealing with the friendly, helpful and knowledgeable
folks at CUFI, and, most importantly these days,
being cost effective. Our clients do not walk
away wondering what they got for their money and
how they’re going to explain the expense to their
boss. Rather, by dealing directly with CUFI from
start to finish, you’re assured our full attention
to your needs and desires, a friendly and professional
support team, and a hi-energy, fun-filled event
that will far outweigh the cost and the experience
of which will continue to benefit your organization
for months and years to come.
